We are Lonnie and Ashley Horan. We have been looking after pets professionally, since 2011. We live on site, less than 15 steps away from our kennel, and are both on the property full time. We are proud to be the smallest-volume kennel in the Regina area, with all the benefits of a professional set-up, but with all the hands-on attention of home.
We are a non-social kennel, prioritizing safety and one-on-one time, over unstructured, free-for-all, all day play. We currently have a maximum of 14 guests at a time, and have no plans to expand or increase that number. Staying small allows us to maintain our quiet, low-stress environment, and ensure that the needs of each of our guests can be met every day.
We try to keep a routine similar to what your dog might have at home, with ample rest and down time, to reduce chance of over-arousal, injury, exhaustion, and stress. We use familiar, but oversized, crates for naps and bedtime. If your dog enjoys this set-up, we are just like home. If your dog is used to 24/7 outdoor access, we might not be the best fit. Please call or email if you have any questions!
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Just the basics! Dog and food is the minimum requirement, with food clearly labeled with name and feeding instructions. If you wish to send a familiar item from home, for your dog's comfort, please insure it is also clearly labeled, easily washed, and does not contain stuffing.
For safety and convenience, we will use our own hard-sided kennels, and stainless steel bowls and water buckets. We do not use plastic or ceramic bowls, for safety.
Yes. We have a number of regular guests who do not do well around others. For some, even seeing another dog can be stressful or upsetting for them. We are able to accommodate their needs, but this can result in less activity time for that individual, as we still have other guests to care for. Please contact us, if you have questions about how your dog might do at Everydog.
If your dog has a history of grumbling or snapping at strangers, we may not be a good fit, due to the very hands-on nature of our setup. For large dogs who have bit or nipped at a person, we will require a visit to assess suitability, prior to accepting any booking.
This depends on the dog, and depends on the day. Some dogs thrive on and need a lot of activity and exercise. Some don't. Our small volume allows us to meet the needs of the individual, day-to-day. Each of our guests receives the exercise THEY need, to be happy and content, and be tired, come bedtime. Activity and/or outside time is available from about 7:30-11 am, 2-7pm, and 10-11 pm.
No. We live and sleep on site, and have motion and temperature sensors for when we are not in the kennel. At night, we want our guests to settle in and get a deep sleep, and if someone were walking around, checking in every crate and suite every hour, there would be a lot of restlessness.
Absolutely. Please make sure the dosage or serving instructions are fool-proof, either written on the container/package, or in a separate information sheet. We are happy to feed raw, kibble, home-prepared, or whatever else your dog may do best on. There is no extra charge for "specialty" foods or medication.
**we do not administer injections of any kind**
We suggest you have a backup kennel or caregiver. Our capacity is extremely limited, and we anticipate being fully booked for long weekends, holidays, and through July and August. Book well in advance, and consider touring the other pet care providers in your area, to see who else might be a good fit for your dog's needs and personality.
